JAMMU, Dec 24: After being screened and cleared by the Screening Committee of J&K Sports Council, the Gymnastics contingent of J&K (boys/girls) left for participation in the 28th National Sub Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships to be held at Jodhpur in Rajasthan from December 25 to 29, 2019.
The contingent comprised 20 players and 3 officials.
The Gymnasts from the districts of Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua and Samba on the basis of performance during the selection trials held earlier at ISC, M A Stadium, Jammu have been selected to represent J&K Union Territory in this Championship.
The team:
Boys: Rijul Bagal. Dhariya Sharna, Ansh Khajuria, Aryan Angotra, Swarakshak Dogra, Raghav Singh, Abhi Lakhotra,
Kumail Ali Wani, Pratyush Sharna, Garv Gupta and Sarabjit Khanna.
Girls: Muskan Rana, Manya Sharna, Riya Sharma, Shivangi, Mannat Sharma, Arduous Sharna, Triza Bilah Thapa, Ayman Tak and Prachi Sharna.
Mitali will be the coach of girls team, Sahil Sahi will be coach of boys’ team and Parul Mehra will the Manager of Contingent.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Gymnasts are participating in the sub juniors categories of artistic Gymnastics after a gap of one decade due to lack of Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus, which have now been provided by J&K Sports Council to further promote Gymnastics in the Union Territory of J&K.
President of J&K Gymnastics Association, Kiran Wattal wished the Gymnasts best of luck for the upcoming tournament.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr (Prof) Ashutosh Sharma, Working President of J&K Gymnastics Association, Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer of Jammu, Arjuna Awardee Krupali Patel Singh, State Awardee Mitali, SP Singh, Satish Gupta- Manager Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, Manisha Gupta-Sr. Gymnastics coach and Sahil Sahi, Gymnastics Instructor.
