J&K Judo team wins two medals at Junior National C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 31: The Jammu & Kashmir Judo team brought home two medals from the Junior National Judo Championships 2024-25, held in Dehradun from March 28 to 31. A total of 23 judokas and officials from the region participated in the competition.
Akshay Sharma earned a silver medal, while Vipul Yashovardhan claimed a bronze medal in their respective categories. The team was selected after trials and screening by the J&K Sports Council. The participating judokas included Shilpa Rajput, Arshad, Smeena Akhter, Sunakshi Devi, Talha Fayaz, Anshika Sharma, Upasana Sharma, Tanvi Thakur, Nirali Sharma, Hidaya Shahid, Sumit Lal, Aman Kumar, Atul Sharma, Akshay Sharma, Vipul Yashovardhan, Rajat Singh Chib, Lucky Bhagat, Rajan Bhardwaj, Bhawani Partap Singh, and Prikshit Singh.
The coaching staff included Shakti Gupta and Jugal Kishore, with Manish Chatwal as the team manager. The team was supported by Suraj Bhan Singh, Sr. Judo Coach and Dr. Jagan Meet Singh, Physiotherapist.
