JAMMU, Mar 1: Despite superb half-centuries by the duo of middle-order batsmen Hardeep Singh and Bandeep Singh and good job done by the bowling trio of skipper and offie Parvez Rasool Zargar, speedster Ramdayal Punia and left-arm spinner, Waseem Raza, the Jammu and Kashmir team fell short of just 2 runs to lose to Services in a thrilling contest of Vijay Hazare One-Day Tournament at Palam-A ground in Delhi today.
Earlier, batting first, Services scored 171 runs in the curtailed 32 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. RS Palliwal top scored with 54 runs off 43 balls, studded with 7 boundaries, while NH Verma and D Lochab contributed 28 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For J&K, Parvez Rasool, Ramdayal and Waseem Raza took 2 wickets each by giving 33, 20 and 22 runs in their 7,4 and 4 overs respectively, while Samiullah Beigh and Mohd Muddasir claimed one wicket each by conceding 53 and 35 runs in 9 and 6 overs respectively.
In reply, J&K rode on brilliant 60 runs by Hardeep Singh and unbeaten 55 by Bandeep Singh to reach to 169 runs in the allotted 32 overs, thus losing the match by just 2 runs. Manish Dogra was the another notable contributor, who scored 29 runs off 35 balls. For Services, A Sinha took 4 wickets, while S Yadav bagged 3 wickets.
