J&K men outplay Goa in 65th Sr National Basketball C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 31: Riding on a superb performance by Shubham Sharma (21 points), Iqbal (16 points) and Salinder Singh (10 points), Jammu anmd Kashmir men’s basketball team thrashed Goa by a margin of 40 points (63-23) in the ongoing 65th National Basketball Championship, being organized by the Basketball Federation of India and supported by IMG-Reliance at the Sukhadia Indoor Stadium, Bhilwara in Rajasthan.
In all, 51 teams including 27 men and 24 women are participating in the Championship played on League-cum-Knockout basis.
Top 10 teams of last year ranking are grouped in Pool A’ and B’ (Level I).
The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.
The rest of the teams will be playing the qualifying league in the Pools ‘C, D, E, F’ for a chance to be promoted to Level-1 for the 66th Senior National Basketball Championship.
