JAMMU, Sept 16: Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering Association has elected Valvinder Singh of village Bhagwa, district Doda as President of District Mountaineering Association, Doda unanimously in an election meeting held here today. Sudesh Kumar, an experienced trekker was elected as General Secretary of the Association.
Surjeet Singh was unanimously elected as Vice President, Sumesh Singh and Partap Singh; both avid trekkers were elected as Vice Presidents and Treasurer of the district association. Five members of the Executive body which included Raksha Singh, Anita, Sunil Sharma, Vansh Parihar and Sachin Singh were also unanimously elected.
Nirmal Kumar of Shree village near Doda who has scaled Everest, the highest peak in the world besides Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak was unanimously nominated as Advisor to the Association. Sumit Khajuria, Vice President of Mountaineering Association was the Observer while Shawetica Khajuria was the returning officer of the election.
