J&K Mountaineering Association elects district body

JAMMU, Jan 29: Maharajkar Singh, one of the founder members of Everest Mountaineering Club, Rajouri has been unanimously elected as the President of District Mountaineering Association, Rajouri in an election meeting held at Press Club of Jammu.
Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar, a retired Principal of a Govt College who has trekked extensively in the Pir Panjal Himalaya was elected as General Secretary of the Association. Whereas Dr Mandeep Singh, a prominent Radiologist and one of the founder members of Mountaineering Association of J&K was unanimously elected as Vice President, Sanjay Sharma and Gurcharan Singh, both avid trekkers were elected as Joint Secretary and Treasurer of the district association respectively.
Nine members of the Executive body which included a champion sport climber Prerna Charak and eight others were Yogeshwar Singh, Mohit Singh, Ajit Singh, Malvinder Singh,Sanjay Sudan, Sachin Singh, Vivek Sharma and Payal Sharma, all active trekkers from various villages of Rajouri district were also unanimously elected. Ram Khajuria was the Returning Officer of the election whereas Sushil Singh, treasurer of the Association was the observer from Mountaineering Association of J&K.
