JAMMU, Dec 4: J&K players Prinkle Singh and Sumitpal Singh thrashed their respective opponents and sailed into the quarterfinal round of under 16 category organised during the ongoing All India Lawn Tennis Championship Series at Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Stadium, Chandigarh.
In under 12 category, Prinkle Singh defeated Shambbhavi of Uttar Pradesh by (2-0) sets and the score remained 4-1 and 4-1.
In under 16 category, Prinkle Singh thrashed Harleen Bhandal of Punjab by score 9-1.
In doubles under 16 category, Prinkle Singh along with her partner Arushi Kakkar of Chandigarh reached semifinal by thrashing Seerat Didhu and Seerat Pannu of Chandigarh by 1-4, 4-0 and 7-3 sets.
Meanwhile, another J&K player Sumitpal Singh also reached quaterfinal in singles under 16 category by defeating Rahul Seth.
During the match, in the first 4 games Sumitpal was down to Rahul Seth of Chandigarh by score 1-3.
In next three games Sumitpal put Rahul Seth down by 4-3 sets. Again Rahul Seth played strongly and was up by 8-5 and he was in need only one game to claim the match but Sumitpal’s courage and cool mind game at crucial stage made him winner. Sumitpal claimed the match in tie-breaker by score 7- 3.
In doubles boys under 16 category, Sumitpal with his partner Vikas of West Bengal defeated Kabir Manrai and Harjasleen of Chandigarh by straight 2-0 sets.
After winning the match, Sumitpal and his partner entered into the semifinals round of the championship.
