JAMMU, Jan 2: On Day one of the Senior National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships held in Surat, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir’s Muskan Rana proved her supremacy by securing the top spot in the competition, being declared the best gymnast in the country.
Competing against strong contenders, Muskan emerged victorious, outshining her main rival Sanyukta Kale from Maharashtra, who secured the 2nd rank. Manya, another gymnast from Jammu and Kashmir, clinched the 3rd rank, marking a remarkable performance by the J&K gymnasts.
Muskan, a trainee at the Sports Council’s Gymnastics Academy in Jammu, displayed exceptional skill and finesse, earning her the highest honour at the national level. In the Senior Team Championships, the J&K team, comprising Muskan Rana, Manya, Shivangi and Jagriti Thakur, won the Silver Medal, while Maharashtra claimed the Gold.
Muskan and Manya also qualified for the Individual Apparatus Finals in all four events – Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon – and are expected to secure more medals for J&K as the competition progresses.
Er. Kiran Wattal, Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation of India, praised the coaches for their dedicated training, which contributed to these remarkable achievements. He also commended the J&K administration under the leadership of LG Manoj Sinha for its efforts in providing world-class sports infrastructure and for hosting a record number of national championships. Sarmad Hafiz, Commissioner YS&S, and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, were also lauded for their tireless efforts in promoting sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
