J&K Police distributes special appliances to visually impaired girls

JAMMU, Oct 1: Jammu & Kashmir Police, District Jammu, today distributed special appliances among visually impaired girls under Civic Action programme in a function held at Louise Braille Memorial Residential School for Blind Children at Roop Nagar, Jammu, being run by National Federation of Blinds J&K Chapter, Jammu.
Chairperson PWWA, K Vijaya was chief guest on the occasion, and IGP Jammu Danish Rana, IPS was the guest of honour. The function was also attended by PWWA members namely Dr Rubinder Kour, Neena Puri, Esther Williams and Monica Paul. The proceedings of the function were held by Roshan Bhan, treasurer of National Federation of Blinds.
On this occasion, books of Class 10th and 12th besides special appliances like Electronic Tanpura, Electronic tabla, Tape Recorder Braille Typewriter and Braille Watches were distributed by the Chairperson PWWA. Thereafter, the students of this school presented a cultural programme, which was highly appreciated by the dignitaries.
K Vijaya appreciated the members of this Federation, staff of the school, the social workers & students who in spite of all odds are excelling in all spheres of life. She exhorted upon the students of this school to work hard and make judicious use of the special appliances and books provided today to them for being independent and succeeding in all spheres of life in future. It was also conveyed by the chief guest that J&K Police in future will also be committed to provide required assistance to these specially abled persons as and when required.
Roshan Bhan highlighted the role of J&K Police in the development of this School.
Ram Paul, president of National Federation of Blinds J&K Chapter, presented vote of thanks to the dignitaries whereas Jeet Ram, vice president, Ram Dass, general secretary and Principal of the school Anju Sharma assisted in the function.
Amongst others, Rtd XEn K D Salila and galaxy of other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.
The programme was organized by J&K Police District Jammu under the guidance of Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu, and was supervised by S Randheer Singh, SP Hqrs Jammu and Shiv Kumar Chouhan, SP North Jammu. The other officers present on the occasion were, Parbheet Singh, SDPO North, Vivek Shekhar, SDPO West, Jammu and Inspr Ajeet Singh, SHO P/S Janipur.
