J&K Police XI drubs Maharaja FC by solitary goal

SRINAGAR, Apr 26: In the ongoing first Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Memorial (MMSM) Football tournament, J&K Police XI defeated Maharaja FC  by a solitary goal in a match played at Synthetic Turf, TRC, here.
In the first half, both teams attacked each others’ goalpost frequently, but it was Faisal Rasheed who opened the account for J&K Police team in 25th minute of the match. Trailing by one goal, Maharaja FC players went for an all out attack to score an equalizer, but the defence lines withheld the pressure and didn’t allow any goals to be scored. The goalkeepers of the two teams made some excellent saves, drawing huge cheers from the spectators.
In the second half, Maharaja FC players launched several counter attacks, but the goalkeeper of the Police team ensured no damage was done.
Maharaja FC team missed at least three clear scoring chances in the second half. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score line read 1-0 in favour of the Police XI. Zahid Ahmad of Maharaja FC (defender) was declared as the player of the match. He was awarded Rs 1000 and a memento.
