JAMMU, Nov 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team preserved its custom of  losing at this level as it suffered a humiliating innings defeat against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
This humiliating defeat portraits picture of the poor preparation of the team and the fielding lapses in the middle told the whole story about the scheme of things in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 354/8, Jharkhand lost the remaining two wickets by adding 23 runs more to gain a lead of 182 runs in their first innings.
Trailing by a big margin of 182 runs, J&K began its second innings on a disastrous note losing first three batsmen cheaply in the form of  openers Ian Dev Singh (0), Adil Reshi (3) and number three batsman Arshid Bhat (5), with the team’s score of 8 for 3. Then Parvez Rasool and Dhruv Mahajan tried to consolidate the innings and made a partnership of 50 odd runs before falling in quick succession after scoring 31 and 21 runs respectively. Parvez, in particular was in sublime touch and playing aggressively, before being trapped LBW by tricky Shahbaz Nadeem. He hit 6 boundaries in his brief knock, while Mahajan struck two fours in his knock. Hardeep Singh (29) and Bandeep Singh (21) with 3 fours and one six, gave total some respectability but that was not enough for saving the match as the whole side bundled-out for 151 runs, thus lost the match by an innings and 31 runs.
