AHMEDABAD, Jan 16: The J&K State Rugby team of Sub Junior Girls emerged runners-up in the All India National Sub Junior Touch Rugby 7’s Championship 2016, which was organized by Gujarat Rugby Association, under the aegis of Indian Rugby Football Union at Ahmedabad, Gujarat recently.
In the league matches, J&K girls beat Bihar by 20-0, while in the second match , J&K beat Gujarat by 15-0. In the third match, and in another match, J&K girls’ team defeated Uttar Pradesh by 15-0.
In the semifinals, J&K team got better of Madhya Pradesh by 15-5 and qualify for the finals.
In the finals, J&K lost to Maharashtra by 5-0 to remain runners-up.
Irtiqa of J&K emerged highest scorer in the tournament.
