J&K Sambo Association elects new leadership

JAMMU, Mar 22: The Sambo Association of Jammu & Kashmir held its annual general body meeting, here today, and unanimously appointed its new leadership team.
During the meeting, Dr Amit Vaid was elected as chairman, Rajeev Sharma as president and Priyank Sharma as senior vice president. The meeting was attended by association members, district representatives, and sports dignitaries.
Aruna Sharma Bhau, general secretary, while presenting welcome address, outlined past achievements and future plans to engage youth in the sport.
The event saw participation from notable members, including representatives from Reasi, Samba, Udhampur, Baramulla, Srinagar, and Ramban districts. Rajesh Dutta attended as an observer from the J&K Olympic Association.
Newly appointed chairman Dr Amit Vaid pledged to strengthen Sambo’s presence across the region. President Rajeev Sharma emphasized plans to improve training infrastructure, host state-level championships, and boost youth participation.
The Association reaffirmed its dedication to providing athletes with opportunities at national and international levels. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Brijesh Bhau, CEO and chief technical director of the Association.
