SRINAGAR: The state has sought setting up of five more Model Career Centers (MCCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, which has only one such center at Samba in Jammu province, Minister for Education Nadeem Akhtar said here today.
The Minister said this in reply to a question by Ali Mohammad Dar who has asked whether it was true that the government was trying to convince companies and business establishments from outside the state to provide employment to youth of the State.
Mr Akhtar said that it was a that the government was making efforts to provide employment to the youth of the state in the companies and business establishments outside the state through MCCs.
He said, at present only one MCC is functioning at Samba . However, proposal for five more MCCs has been sent to the Centre.
The Minister said the MCCs has full functionalities of career and employment related services like job matching, employment market analysis and other value added service and will be the main outreach and resource centers for National Career Service (NCS).
He said under NCS projects of the Government, a National portal has been developed and is functional which will bring jobseekers, employers and training providers on common platform. This, he said, would facilitate online matching of job and provide information about the opportunities for training and re-skilling.
Mr Akhater said the candidates will have access to skill assessment and psychometric test and guided to the right opportunity whether it is for employment, skill training, apprenticeship training, on the job training, finishing course (gap training).
He said around 36000 number of unemployed youths of the state have registered themselves so far on this portal.
The reply said that there is no proposal under the consideration with Labour and Employment department as well as Education department to make it mandatory for local business units. (AGENCIES)
