J&K sets strong total against Saurashtra

JAMMU, Oct 20: Following a stellar century in the previous match against Delhi, aggressive opening batter Qamran Iqbal delivered another impressive performance, scoring a brilliant century as Jammu and Kashmir posted 250 runs for the loss of three wickets in 67 overs against Saurashtra before heavy rains interrupted play at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground-C.
Batting first, J&K faced an early setback with opener Qazi Junaid dismissed for just 2 runs. However, Qamran Iqbal joined forces with Musaif Ajaz to form a formidable partnership of 126 runs, taking the team’s score to 136/2. Musaif contributed a solid 41 runs off 73 balls, including three fours and a six, before being dismissed.
Qamran continued his onslaught, smashing a quick-fire 109 runs off just 90 balls, featuring 16 fours and 2 towering sixes, showcasing his aggressive batting style. Following their dismissals, skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Yawer Hassan guided J&K to 250 runs, with Kanhaiya scoring 48 runs off 123 balls and Yawer notching up 49 runs off 98 balls.
Maurya Ghoghari was the pick of the bowlers for Saurashtra, taking 2 wickets for 79 runs in 22 overs, while Neel Pandya claimed one wicket. The day’s play was eventually called off due to rain, leaving J&K in a strong position heading into the next session.
