J&K settle for three points against Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 2:
A lion-hearted effort by the batsmen, including tail-enders, saved Hyderabad from the blushes and helped pull it out of what seemed a near-disaster against Jammu and Kashmir in their Ranji Trophy Group-C match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS) here today.
Following a face-saving draw, Hyderabad managed one point while the visitors got three for having taken a massive 180-run first innings lead.
Earlier, resuming the day at 122 for two, skipper Hanuma Vihari completed his half-century although the comeback man Danny Derek Prince fell for 62. However, it was the sheet-anchor roles played by B Anirudh (57) and K Sumanth (78) with substantial support coming from CV Milind that steered Hyderabad past the deficit and also set a target of 150 runs from 17 overs for the visitors to go for an outright win.
In the chase, they lost two wickets and the match petered into a draw.
Brief scores: Jammu & Kashmir 460 & 56/2 in 17 overs (Ian Chauhan 26 not out, Parvez Rasool 25 not out)drew with Hyderabad 280  & follow on 329(GH Vihari 65, Danny Derek Prince 62, B Anirudh 57, K Sumanth 78, Ram Dayal 5/55, Umair Nazir 3/63). (UNI)
