JAMMU, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir’s Rollball teams showcased exceptional performances at the Under-17 Junior North Zone Rollball Championship held in Dehradun. The girls’ team clinched the gold medal, while the boys’ team secured the silver.
The girls’ team had an unbeaten run throughout the tournament. They started with a commanding 6-0 victory over Punjab, followed by a narrow 5-4 win against Uttarakhand. In the semi-finals, Jammu and Kashmir thrashed Delhi by 11-0, securing their spot in the final. In the decisive match, the team defeated Uttar Pradesh by 3-0 to win the gold medal. Ishani scored two goals and Ishanvi added one goal in the end to seal the victory.
The boys’ team also put up a commendable performance. They opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Uttarakhand and followed it with a 5-3 victory against Haryana. In the semi-finals, Jammu and Kashmir dominated Punjab with a 9-0 scoreline. However, they were narrowly defeated by Uttar Pradesh in the final, losing by 5-7. Utkarsh scored three goals, while Dravay and Arnav netted one goal each in the final.
The closing ceremony was graced by Geeta Dhami, wife of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, who was the chief guest of the event.
