J&K Sports Council’s website not yet updated

JAMMU, Dec 13:

The directions of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu remain unheeded as the State Sports Council-the prominent body handling sports affairs in the Union Territory-has yet to update its official website.
The last updates can be seen on the official website ‘jksportscouncil.com’ is of month of July 30, 2019 and thereafter nothing official besides happenings across the regions-are seen updated.
“Internet services were snapped in the Valley in the month of August in view of abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A and at that time, Darbar Move offices were in Srinagar,” official sources here said.
“As no sports activity was conducted for the past more than two months in Kashmir valley in view of restrictions due to which, the website could not be updated,” an official claimed.
He said that due to snapped internet and restrictions, sports remained affected and following this, nothing could be updated.
However, sources in the State Sports Council said that broadband internet facility was not suspended in Jammu and the exercise of updating the website could have been performed from Jammu based head office.
“Barring first two weeks of August, sports activities continued on regular basis in Jammu,” they said adding that the happenings could have been updated on the website.
Sources further said that regular training sessions of coaches, district, state level competitions, national championships, happened in the past two months in Jammu but none of the activity has been updated.
“Besides routine happenings, the list of coaches with discipline and credentials, functioning of associations, are also yet to be updated,” they added.
“Apart from activities, the photographs, list of coaches, orders, news has also not been updated on the website,” they added.
Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu on November 19 has directed the General Administration Department to advise all departments to update all Government websites with latest information and content week’s time and also asked the department to come up with delivery of citizens’ services via mobile application as well to strengthen the public service delivery mechanism.
