JAMMU, Dec 14: Jammu and Kashmir stood at the bottom of the points table with just 4 points in the six-team Elite Group-A, after receiving a heavy thrashing against Vidarbha, who stood at number-2 spot, with Himachal Pradesh at the top earning 12 points each, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai.
Earlier, put into bat, Jammu and Kashmir lost 4 wickets for 62 runs, before dependable Parvez Rasool and Wicket-keeper/batsman Fazil Rashid rescued the team with their superb batting display to take their team to a respectable total of 233 runs in 49.3 overs. Fazil scored 73 runs off 59 balls, studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes, while Rasool contributed 50 off 66 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six. Auqib Nabi also contributed valuable 27 runs off 34 balls including 2 sixes and 1 four, while Shubham Singh Pundir, Qamran Iqbal and Abdul Samad contributed 19, 16 and 15 runs to the total respectively.
For Vidarbha, Yash Thakur and Aditya Sarvate took 3 wickets each, while Lalit Yadav, Akshay Wakhare and Darshan shared 1 wicket apiece.
In reply, Vidarbha chased the target easily in 43 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Skipper Faiz Fazal slammed a brilliant unbeaten century (102*) off 110 balls, studded with 22 boundaries, while Apoorv Wankhade contributed 79 off 80 balls, studded with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. Yash Rathod also scored 25 runs.
For J&K, Ramdayal bagged 2 wickets, while Mujtaba Yousuf, Abid Mushtaq and Parvez Rasool claimed one wicket each.
