J&K to take on Jharkhand in quarterfinal of football tourney today

JAMMU, Aug 30: J&K team will take on Jharkhand in the quarterfinal of the football tournament organized during the ongoing National Talent Search and Nurture Programme, being held at DPS Ghaziabad.
Earlier, J&K footballers in their attempt to top the group played a hard battle against a formidable and super fit side of Bihar today morning, although it has already qualified for quarterfinal stage.
J&K conceded two consecutive goals in initial stage of the match but held the strongest side of the group with some strong defending by both midfielders and defenders. Goalkeeper led the team from behind and made some excellent saves throughout the match.
Meanwhile, J&K got its share of chances both in first and second halves but failed to convert the same into goals.
J&K side started loosing its defensive edge in last few minutes of the match and made silly mistakes to concede two more goals in dying moments of the match. Bihar registered win over J&K by 4-0 goals.
During the match, there were some protests regarding some overage players in Bihar team which were settled later after required documentary proofs were produced by the team.
J&K will now fight against one of the best teams of the tournament Jharkhand in the quarterfinal tomorrow morning.
District Co-ordinator, Arun Pal Singh, who is with the team at Ghaziabad, requested all the football coaches of the participating schools from J&K to put in more efforts towards improving fitness and skills of their school players so that they can compete and prove themselves at such a level.
He further added that even the best of the best players fail to show case their talent if they are not fit enough to compete and survive for full duration of the match.
