J&K team bags 28 medals in 2nd Federation Cup

JAMMU, Apr 22: J&K team brought laurels to the State by winning 28 medals including 13 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze medals in the Sub Junior, Junior and Senior (Boys and Girls) categories of the 2nd Federation Cup, being organized by Jharkhand Thang Ta Association under the aegis of Thang Ta Federation of India and Jharkhand Olympic Association at Kala Bhawan indoor sports stadium, Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
In the Federation Cup, Zakaria Bhat, Bakhtyar, Firdous, Sahil Noor, Iram Iqbal, Nighat, Farhana, Asiya, Rizwan, Zaheer, Adil Bashir, Rukaya and Suhail Dar won the Gold medals.
The silver medals were claimed by Mansoor, Jehangir, Afridi, Tariq, Junaid, Irfan, Waseem, Naseer and Sumaiya, while, Sumaiya, Sajad, Azhar and Ubaid lateef bagged bronze medals.
In the said Federation Cup, teams from Delhi, Manipur, UP, MP, Pondicherry, Kerala, Uttrakhand, J&K, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Tripura, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and host Jharkhand took part.
The medal winners have now qualified for the First Asian Sub Junior and Youth Thang Ta Championship as well as in the 2nd Asian Senior Thang Ta Championship.
In the said championships, teams from Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and host India will compete with each other in the 2 days mega event.
The players of the Indian squad, who will clinch gold medals in these championships will participate in the forthcoming International Thang Ta Championship to be held at Seoul, Korea.
