J&K teams emerge overall Champion in 11th Nat’l Pencak Silat C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 28: Jammu and Kashmir Pencak Silat teams emerged overall Champion in 11th National Pencak Silat Championships for Pre Teen, Sub Junior and Junior (Boys and Girls) at Patli Putra Stadium Patna, Bihar.
The championship was held between November 23 to 26 with participation from 34 States and Union Territories teams in both boys and girls categories. Over 1400 players took part in the mega tournament with high fever.
The Jammu and Kashmir team emerged overall Champion with medals tally of 27 Gold, 22 Silver and 28 Bronze medals while Haryana emerged as the runners up and Delhi and Uttarakhand stood on the 3rd place in the total medal tally.
Sports Minister Bihar, Jitendra Kumar Rai was the chief guest, Director General ( Sports )  Ravindran Shankaran, Pankaj Raj Director cum Secretary Bihar State Sports Authority were guests.
The Championship was organised by Pencak Silat Association of Bihar under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and under the banner of Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, Govt of India and Sports authority of India. The players who performed well were taken to the Indian national camps for the 5th Junior World and 20th Senior World Pencak Silat Championship 2023 which will be held at Singapore later in January 2024.
