J&K tops pool, seals berth in semis of Tennis Ball Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 18: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and CBSE in their league matches to top the pool and seal berth in the semifinals of the 61st National School Games Under-19 Boys Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, being played at Ranchi in Jharkhand.
In their third match played today, J&K defeated Chhattisgarh by a narrow margin of 10 runs. Batting first, J&K scored 66 runs in 9.5 overs. Saqib and Umar Sofi contributed 14 runs each.
In reply, Chhattisgarh bundled out for 56 runs to lose the match by 10 runs. Sahil Singh and Umar Sofi took 2 wickets each, while Rustam claimed one wicket.
In another match played earlier, J&K got better of Uttar Pradesh by 20 runs. Batting first, J&K scored 62 runs in 10 overs. Umar Sofi top scored with 20 runs, while Basit and Danish contributed 12 and 11 runs each.
In reply, UP collapsed at 42 runs, thus lost the match by 20 runs. Rustam Ali and Sahil Singh took 2 wickets each, while Umar Sofi claimed one wicket.
Earlier, on the opening day of the Championship, J&K started the campaign on a winning note, defeating CBSE convincingly.
