J&K Triumph Over Gujarat in Senior Women’s T20

JAMMU, Oct 24: All-rounder Chitra Singh Jamwal, leg-spinner Ananaya Sharma, and captain Jasia Akhter powered Jammu and Kashmir to a thrilling 10-run victory over Gujarat in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at Vadodara today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, J&K faced early setbacks, losing Shivanti Gupta (0) and Bawandeep Kaur (16) with just 20 runs on the board. However, a crucial partnership between Chitra Singh Jamwal and skipper Jasia Akhter steadied the innings. The pair displayed grit and determination, taking the score to 80/3 in 13.5 overs before Jasia was dismissed for a brisk 35 off 25 balls, which included two fours and two sixes.
Chitra contributed 37 runs off 45 balls, anchoring the innings with two boundaries. Other key contributors included Bawandeep Kaur (16 off 16 balls), Rubia Syed (12 off 15), and Rudrakshi Chib (10 off 6), helping J&K post a competitive total of 108/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Renuka Chaudhari was the standout bowler for Gujarat, claiming 3 wickets for just 18 runs in her 4 overs. Krutikaben and Aatena M Shekh also chipped in with 2 wickets each.
In response, Gujarat started steadily, but Jammu and Kashmir’s bowlers applied consistent pressure. Simran was the top scorer for Gujarat, playing a magnificent unbeaten knock of 61 off 61 balls, which included 5 fours and a six. Despite her valiant effort, Gujarat could only manage 98/4 in 20 overs, falling short by 10 runs.
Ananaya Sharma was the star with the ball for J&K, claiming 3 wickets for 22 runs in her 4 overs, dismantling Gujarat’s middle order. Chitra Singh Jamwal and Rudrakshi Chib also took one wicket each, contributing to the team’s strong bowling performance.
