J&K UT Team lifts 18th All India Senior Super Sevens C’ship

SRINAGAR, June 11: The 18th All India Senior Super Sevens Cricket Championship reached its thrilling conclusion at the Kashmir University ground, here today.
The final match, contested between the J&K UT team and the Kashmir University team, culminated in an exciting victory for J&K UT, as they successfully chased down a target of 97 runs in just 6 overs.
The championship witnessed the participation of nearly 24 teams from across the country, with the J&K UT team ultimately lifting the coveted trophy. The Kashmir University team secured second place, while the West Bengal team clinched the third spot.
Distinguished personalities graced the final event, including MP Assam Naba Kumar Sarnia, who served as the Chief Guest, as well as renowned businessman Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Superintendent of Police (SP) Hazratbal, and other officials.
MP Assam Naba Kumar Sarnia expressed his delight at the spirited performance displayed by the young players. He stated, “It was a pleasure to witness this event; it provided a unique experience. The true essence of sportsmanship was evident here, and it was heartening to see the young athletes channelling their potential.”
Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, the businessman, expressed his hope that similar tournaments should be organized more frequently in Kashmir. He emphasized that such events not only spread positivity but also offered a mesmerizing experience, witnessing the talent perform in such a picturesque setting.
President Mohd Arif Surma and General Secretary Amir Shafi, who head the J&K Super Seven Cricket Association, organized the tournament. President Surma expressed his gratitude towards all the stakeholders who provided essential assistance. He further revealed that the top four positions in the tournament were secured by teams from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and two different teams from J&K.
“I extend my thanks to all those who extended their support in facilitating the smooth conduct of the tournament. VC KU Prof. Nilofer Khan and the Director of Physical Education, KU, made every effort to assist us. It was indeed a unique experience,” President Mohd Arif Surma acknowledged.
It is to be noted here that the 18th All India Senior Super Sevens Cricket Championship showcased the exceptional talent and witnessed intense competition throughout the tournament.
