SRINAGAR, Oct 29: J&K Water Sports Associations flagged off Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Team for the ongoing National Games at Goa here today.
Maysir, Aqib, Idrees and Showkat who won a significant number of medals have once again brought laurels to J&K by bagging bronze medal in recently held National Championship at Uttarakhand were felicitated for their outstanding performances.
The flagging off ceremony witnessed by Shafqat Watali, president JKWSKCA and Dr Burhan Bazaz, president JKARS including many prominent personalities. Dr Burhan Bazaz said that the entire Union Territory is feeling proud of our young water sports athletes and the result is the reflection of hard work put in by players as well as coaches.
Dr Bazaz quoted “Bilquis Mir (Director Water Sports J&K and International player) has an identical role as Lapidarist, who turns the ordinary stones into gems, costlier and rarest ones”.
