JAMMU, Oct 22: J&K Wushu team secured 1 gold and 7 bronze medals in the 26th Senior National Wushu Championship held at Shillong (Meghalaya) recently.
The championship was organised by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Wushu Association of India. Around 1100 participants from 42 Units participated in this championship. The j&K State Wushu team remained 5th in the medal tally in the Sanshou event.
The SSCB emerged overall champion. Governor of Meghalaya was the chief guest on the valedictory function.
Rajinder Singh won gold medal in 90 kg category, while Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, Abhishek Jamwal, Pankaj Raina, Haqeek Ahmed, Pradeep Appu Jamwal claimed Bronze medals.
Ajay Paul Gill and Ashi Jamwal accompanied the team as coaches, Sheetal was the manager, while Kuldeep Handoo, chief coach of the Indian team accompanied the team as a team leader.
