Visually Impaired Youth Nat’l Judo C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 29: Sixteen visually impaired Judo players from J&K-6 girls and 10 boys from J&K Blind and Para Judo Association participated in 3rd Visually Impaired Youth National Judo Championship cum selection trials for youth Asian Games 2025 held at Halwasiya Court Para Judo Academy Sahara Ganj, Lucknow.
The sport event was organized by Indian Blind & Para Judo Association in collaboration with Indian Blind Sports Association.
In the championship, J&K Team won overall trophy by winning 10 medals (6 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze). About 150 Judokas of 16 States/UTs participated in the championship.
Anekha Devi of J&K won Best Play trophy.
Judokas who won gold medals in the championship were selected for Tashkent Youth Asian Para Games to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in October 2025.
The Gold Medal winners included Bhumika Chib in 46 kg weight category, Anekha Devi in 52 kg category, Adiba Choudhary in 60 kg category, Netra Tickoo in 70 kg category, Imran Ahmed in 70 kg category and Satish Kumar in 70 kg category.
Silver Medal winners were Shahnaz Akhter in 46 kg category and Fiza Zohra in 52 kg category.
Bronze Medal winners were Anshuman Sharma in 62 kg category and Karman Singh in 70 kg category.
All these visually impaired Judokas were trained by Suraj Bhan Singh, Chief Judo Coach of J&K Sports Council.
The team was accompanied by Principal Sightless School for Girls Roop Nagar, Suhasi Kiran, Team Manager and Shakeel Ahmed as Assistant.
