JAMMU, Jan 16: Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association selected J&K State Junior Wrestling Team for participation in 36 Boy’s Free Style & Greeco Roman Style and 19th Girls Free Style, Junior National Wrestling Championship 2017 to be held from January 19 at Patna in Bihar.
Prior to the final selection of the team, the J&K Wrestling Association organized a Coaching Camp at Bajrang Akhara Shalamar Jammu from last 15 days in which these wrestlers were given daily practice under professional and well qualified coaches.
The wrestlers who were selected for the Championship included Gourav Kumar , Surjeet Singh, Neera Samotra, Arjun Singh Nadeem Ahmed Ajay Chib Sanjay Singh Chib, Sunil Chowdhary, Rahul Mehra, Aman Gupta, Abhishek Singh, Mohd Asif, Din Mohamad, and Salinder Singh.
On the occasion, Ashok Khajuria, former State president BJP and former MLC was the chief guest during the final selection of the wrestlers.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of the J&K Wrestling Association for promoting Wrestling in J&K. Meanwhile, two minutes silence was observed to pay homage to veteran Wrestler of J&K, late Krishan Phalwan, who has left for heavenly abode.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were President Bajrangi Akhara, Pardeep Sharma, Ajay Vaid, General Secretary, Vijay Pahalwan, Vice President and Raju Sharma, Treasurer.
NIS Qualified Coaches, Dheeraj Sharma and Jai Bharat, Vikas Gupta and other sports aficionados were also present on the occasion.
