JAMMU, Apr 27: Winning 5 medals, with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze among the 16 medals, with 5 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze secured by the Indian Wushu team in the International Wushu Championship at Yerevan in Armania, the Jammu and Kashmir ace Wushu players have brought laurels to the Country and the State of Jammu and Kashmir as well.
For this outstanding achievement, the office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K and the Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council, Haji Qayoom gave a rousing reception to the medalists of the State, here today.
The team was sent by the Wushu Association of India in which 19 players from different parts of the Country participated.
14 Countries participated in the Championship.
The selection of the players in this Championship was based on the performance in the recently held 25th Senior National Wushu Championship and Federation Cup at Patiala.
The medalists from J&K included Ajaz Hassan (Gold), Sunil Dev Singh (Gold), Pankaj Raina (Silver),Tsering Angmo (Silver) and Jabeena Akhter (Bronze).
The team was coached by Kuldeep Handoo (Chief National Coach of India).
Minister for Sports, Moulvi Imraan Raza Ansari and Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Waheed-Ur- Rehman Parra have conveyed congratulations to the medalists and the Wushu Association of J&K for earning such feat at the International arena.
The office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K including Yogesh Sawhney (Patron), Vijay Saraf (President), Ranjeet Kalra (VP) and Sunil Sharma (VP) have lauded the efforts of the medal winners for this achievement.
Those who were present during the function included Sohit Sharma (Treasurer), Ajay Paul Gill, Arun Singh Charak, Lalit Singh, Bhanu Partap Singh, Rajinder singh, Ashi Jamwal, Atul and Rohit.
