J&K Wushu team remains 5th in medal tally in National C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 7: J&K Junior Wushu team remained 5th in the medal tally by securing one Gold, four Silver and three Bronze medals in the 21st Junior National Wushu Championship, held at Calicut in Kerala from September 1 to 6.
Kaifa Shah bagged Gold medal for J&K in 56 kg, while Mohd Ali, Musharaf, Ajmal and Ansa Chisti bagged Silver medals and Mohd Amir, Vasu and Palkeet Singh bagged Bronze medals in the championship
Approximately 1100 players from 36 units of the Wushu Association of India took part in the Championship.
The technical committee of the Wushu Association of India will finalise the list of the campers shortlisted through National Championship for the national coaching camp in view of the 8th World Wushu Championship scheduled to be held at Indonesia in the month of December.
President Vijay Saraf and other office bearers of the Association congratulated Wushu team for the excellent performance in the National Championship and thanked J&K Sports Council for the support. He also appealed to the Government for an allotment of Centre of Excellence for the Wushu.
