J&K youth need to be risk takers: Bhagat

JAMMU, Mar 11: Former Minister and MLA Raipur-Domana, Bali Bhagat today said employment opportunities in the State are limited and youth need to develop confidence and be the risk takers. He urged educated unemployed youth of the State to change their mindset and not hanker around Government jobs only.
Bhagat was speaking as a chief guest at the day-long Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) held by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Oasis Farms, Bhalwal (Jammu).
More than 300 educated unemployed youth of Block Bhalwal including Sarpanches participated in the awareness programme to take advantage of various Central and State sponsored schemes implemented by the Institute, which would help them to establish employment generating ventures in different sectors of economy.
He said, “Entrepreneurship is the only option to tackle unemployment of the job starved State of J&K.”  He also requested parents to revisit their thinking and support children in taking entrepreneurship as career.
Bhagat encouraged the youth to take benefit of various schemes being implemented by JKEDI and said that entrepreneurship is a viable and respectful career option. He further said that the school education system should be revamped in a way that would include entrepreneurship in the curriculum both at primary and secondary level. The legislator suggested holding frequent awareness camps throughout the State.
Praising Government of India’s liberal funding to land locked State of J&K, the MLA said that it was this funding which is helping the State to sustain. On the occasion five successful JKEDI sponsored entrepreneurs from Bhalwal were felicitated with mementos.
The former Minister also encouraged them and said they should be the role models for unemployed youth. On the occasion he also laid emphasis on skill development, which he said is essential for the sustainable and inclusive development of the State.
The function was organized by the JKEDI and presided by Chief Program Officer, JKEDI, Dr Majid Manzoor Khan. Other officials of JKEDI including Numan Bedar and Dr Vinod Kumar were also present.
