JKAACL celebrates ‘Madhukar Day’ at Gurha Slathian

JAMMU, Nov 28: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu, with local support  of  Duggar Manch, organized a  Dogri Mushaira at  Gurha Slathian, Jammu. A large number of  local people, writers and poets were present on the  occasion.
N D  Jamwal,  veteran Dogri writer and a contemporary poet presided over the  function whereas   Pawan Kumar Sharma, Additional DC   Samba was the chief guest and   Rajneesh Gupta , SDM  Vijaypur, was the guest of honour. Besides  these,   Mohan  Singh, president Duggar Manch, Jammu  and  Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu  were also  present in the presidium.
Delivering presidential address,  N D  Jamwal appreciated the  joint efforts of the  Cultural Academy  and Duggar Manch for providing such a  beautiful poetic meet  involving  senior, contemporary and local poets.
Mohan Singh said that besides paying tribute to the deceased poet, the event has also given an opportunity to sit together and encourage young writers towards creative writing.
Tributes were also paid to late poet Sudershan Rattanpuri who was also  part of event during the last year.
A  poetry competition,  involving students from different schools, based on the  Madhukar’s poetry,  was also organized as  a part of the programme.  In this competition Ist prize was won by  Neha Slathia and    2nd  prize by Gorav  Sharma while the  3rd prize was shared  by  two students,  namely Priya Sharma and Manya Sharma.
Those who recited their poems included;  N D  Jamwal, Darshan Darshi, Daleep Singh, Pavittar Singh Slathia, Ajit Pal Sharma, Shivdev Singh Susheel, C S Katal, Bishan Singh Dardi, Prakash Premi, Gianeshwar Sharma, Mohan Singh, Susheel Begana, Vijay Sharma, Kuldeep Dogra, Sunita Bhadwal, Neelam Verma and Chaman Lal.
The proceedings of the  programme were conducted by  Yash Paul Nirmal, Research Asstt, J&K Cultural Academy, Jammu  and vote of thanks  was presented by  Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, J&K Cultural Academy, Jammu.
