SRINAGAR, July 15: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in association with Tourism Department launched a weekly cultural programme series titled “Culture on Cruise” at Dal Lake.
Conceived by JKAACL, the innovative programme series brings writers, performance artists, musicians, poets and academics together and offers a program of performances, workshops, talks, forums and debates.
Talking about the programme series – the first of its kind in the State – Secretary JKAACL, Dr Aziz Hajini said he’s looking forward to hosting such events on regular basis through summer and autumn on varied topics of interest on the floating waters of the Dal Lake.
“There’s something really magical about listening to music and talks outside especially on running waters and it’s wonderful to remember that and to make the effort to organize it,” he said, adding such events have a “very special and moving experience”.
Elucidating further, Hajini said that under this series, the organizers will hold regular interactions with cross sections of the society besides Dal dwellers including tourists so as to ensure broader discourse on cultural moorings of the State.
The inaugural programme of the series saw artists Mohammed Yaseen Gundpuri, Mohammed Subhan Shah and Bashir Kotur performing before a select gathering of audience comprising singers, artists, writers, and poets.
Broadcaster Talha Jehangir anchored the programme.
