Jammu, June 25: Seeking regularization of physical education teachers appointed under Rehbar-e-Khel policy, J&K Apni Party (JKAP) today staged protest demonstration by selling their medals to express resentment towards the discriminatory policy of the Government.
Led by JKAP youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, the protesters assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club Jammu. They were demanding reduction in probation period from seven years to two years and regularization of those who have already completed two years in service.
They also demanded that these teachers should be given respectable salaries Rs 70,000 per month because many of them were national and international players.
“We were compelled by the Government for not lending any helping hands to the Rehbar-e-Khel physical teachers who are getting Rs 100 per day to respond to their service to the nation,” JKAP leader said.
They alleged that the Government had set-up a committee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam to examine the engagement under Rehbar-e-Khel policy in the month of February this year, but the committee has failed to submit its report so far.
Others who were part of the protest included Dheeraj Salaria, Palvinder Singh Chib, Narinder Singh Chib, Gourav Chib, Ashwani Kumar, Abneet Sharma, Nayna Kashyap, Ambika Sharma and many others.
