JAMMU, Sept 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has appointed former India cricketer Latika Kumari Sangwan as the new coach for the senior women’s team. This appointment marks a significant step in JKCA’s efforts to elevate the standard of women’s cricket in the region and aims to produce players capable of competing at the international level.
The decision reflects JKCA’s ongoing commitment to professionalism and transparency in its operations. Since the appointment of a three-member sub-committee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2021, JKCA has focused on improving infrastructure and establishing standard cricket academies across the Union Territory.
Mithun Manhas, JKCA’s Member of Cricket Operations and Development, emphasized that Latika’s vast experience and coaching expertise will be instrumental in nurturing J&K’s budding cricketers. He highlighted the recent successes of the senior women’s team and U-15 team, noting their historic achievements in national tournaments.
Additionally, JKCA is set to build a state-of-the-art cricket facility in Jammu, featuring modern amenities and training resources, further supporting its vision to foster cricket talent in the region.
