*Time ripe to see JK women in Team India: Dr Sanjogita

JAMMU, June 11: Getting the better of JKCA Yellow (Kashmir Province) by 5 wickets in the summit clash, JKCA Green (Jammu Province) lifted the title trophy of the Senior Women’s One-Day Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
Dr Sanjogita Sudan was the chief guest on the occasion, while former national women cricketers Meena Rajput and Anuradha Sharma were the guests of honour. Former national cricketers Anju Gupta and Madhu Bandral were the special guests, while Monica and Gaurav were from Axis Bank, the sponsors of the event.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA Yellow (Kashmir Province) scored a good total of 219 runs in 50 overs by losing 7 wickets in the process. Rubiya Syed top scored with power-packed 68 runs, while Rukaya contributed valuable 44 runs and Sheeraza Bano made 23 runs. For JKCA Green, Urvashi Sharma took 3 wickets, while skipper Sandhya Sayal bagged 2 wickets and Chitra claimed one wicket.
In reply, JKCA Green chased the target by losing 5 wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Nadia Chowdhary played a brilliant innings of 69 runs, while Sarla Devi contributed valuable 32 runs and Tanisha scored 28 runs. For JKCA Yellow, Khushboo Aftab took 2 wickets.
Sheerazah Bano was adjudged as the best batter, Urvashi was declared as the best bowler, Sarla Devi was named as best all-rounder, Lalita was nominated as the best wicketkeeper and Rukaya as the most promising player of the tournament.
Dr Sanjogita while lavishing praise on the organisers said that they have moulded the raw talent into gold, adding that the time is ripe to see J&K women cricketers in Team India. “It brings an ecstatic feeling to see J&K women cricket on upswing as JK eves are bringing laurels to the UT,” Dr Sanjogita.
Brig Anil Gupta said that JKCA has selected a pool of talented cricketers in both men and women category via Talent Hunt 2022, adding that JKCA will organise conditioning, coaching and fitness training camps to hone their skill, before making the final selection for national tournaments.
