JAMMU, Dec 21: The provincial level committee of Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) headed by former chairman Mehbool Iqbal and comprising of the members including Romesh Mahajan, Brijinder Singh Jaswal, Tilak Singh and Nirmal Singh has sacked the senior selectors of Jammu wing namely Surinder Singh Bagal and Sanjay Sharma with immediate effect.
The decision in this regard was taken in an emergent meeting convened under the chairmanship of Jammu provincial committee convener, Mehbool Iqbal.
According to a handout issued here the committee discussed the composition of J&K Ranji trophy team for the match against Himachal Pradesh and observed that the selectors have acted in a most irresponsible manner, who rather than encouraging the youngsters who were instrumental in bringing laurels to the State by out-rightly defeating Assam and Kerala, have omitted them and included favourites.
The meeting said that the selectors have by passed the provincial committee and leaked the team to public, adding that the conduct of the selectors was not at all in the interest of the State Cricket, so removing both of them was the need of the hour, rather the demand of the situation.
The handout further added that the selectors will be replaced soon and the names shall be communicated to JKCA president accordingly.
