SRINAGAR, July 17: In reply to JKCA Blue’s formidable total of 357 runs in the first innings, JKCA Red were 214/5 in 56 overs in their first essay of the final match of ongoing Under-19 Men’s Multi-Day Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at SK Stadium Srinagar.
Oman Fayaz, Azhad Arshid, Ranjot Singh and Arooj Parvaiz were the good performers from JKCA Blue, while Akshit Gandral, Rydham Sharma and Aman Singh performed well for JKCA Red.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 196/6, JKCA Blue rode on magnificent half-centuries by Oman Fayaz, Azhad Arshid and Ranjot Singh, besides a good contribution by Mohammad Mousab to score a formidable total of 357 runs in 99.4 overs in their first innings. Mohammad Mousab was the first man to be dismissed today at his individual score of 43 runs, while Oman (77) and Ranjot (52) were exceptional today, showing great application and temperament to help JKCA Blue reach a big total.
For JKCA Red, Aman Singh took 3 wickets, while Umer Javed bagged 2 wickets. Mohd Naveed, Shourya Manhas and Udhay Partap Singh claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Red were at 214/5 in 56 overs at the draw of stumps on day-2 today. Akshit Gandral missed the century, he however showed stellar grit and tenacity to score magnificent 97 runs, while Rydham contributed valuable unbeaten 57 runs and skipper Arnav Gupta scored 22 runs.
Rydham Sharma (57) and Udhay Partap Singh (12) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn today.
For JKCA Blue, Arooj Parvaiz took 3 wickets, while Yasir Rashid and Ranjot Singh claimed 1 wicket each.
With a final day’s play left in the match, it will be the test of nerves for the players of both the teams tomorrow. At this juncture, the match seems to be heading for a draw, however, it will be interesting to see which team gains the vital first innings lead as JKCA Red needs 144 more runs to do so, while Blue needs 5 more wickets for the same.
The 3-day match is being officiated by Faizan Fayaz and Hilal Mir as umpires, while Amjid as the scorer.
