JKCTSG proposes to host inaugural session of Asian Traditional Sports 2027

JAMMU, Sept 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Council of Traditional Sports and Games (JKCTSG) has officially submitted a proposal to host the inaugural session of Asian Traditional Sports and Games in 2027.
This proposed event aims to build upon the successful achievements of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG), which has already made strides in organizing major traditional sports events on the global stage.
Addressing a meet in this regard, Aman Kumar Sharma, Secretary-General of the Association and Executive Member of the ICTSG said the proposal by Tarsem Sharma, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Council of Traditional Sports and Games and Vice President of the Association of Traditional Sports and Games, India, outlines the vision for the 1st Asian Traditional Sports and Games.
“It also recognizes this event as the next significant step in the ICTSG’s mission to promote traditional sports globally, in alignment with UNESCO’s objectives of safeguarding these cultural treasures,” he maintained.
A handout stated that the 1st Asian Traditional Sports and Games is poised to become a landmark event, adding to the ICTSG’s growing legacy of promoting traditional sports on a global platform.
Also by proposing Jammu and Kashmir as the host for the 2027 event, the Council seeks to position the region as a hub for traditional sports in Asia.
The event is proposed for 2027, with final dates to be confirmed and the event will bring together athletes from across Asia.
