JAMMU, Nov 25: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) today elected its office bearers during first-ever State level convention held at Mahajan Hall here.
During the convention, Dr K Krishna proposed the name of Anil Gupta as first president of party, which was seconded by Satpal Grover and large number of party activists. Anil Gupta will hold the post of president for the initial term of three years as specified in the party constitution.
Satpal Grover, a veteran politician and senior most party leader was unanimously elected as chairman of the party.
Later, Anil Gupta nominated Murari Lal as senior vice-president of the party. Munish Khajuria (formerly district youth president) was nominated as State youth president of the party while as Veenu Khanna as State president for ladies wing of the party.
Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, former Union Minister, who was present on the occasion, congratulated Anil Gupta on being elected as party president.
Addressing the convention attended by party workers from different parts of State including Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Padder, Basohli, Bani, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and Kathua, Anil Gupta said, “the ruling coalition is not willing to provide political space to other groups for its own survival and using State machinery to meet its own interests. These parties are even not hesitating to compromise with the sovereignty and integrity of State with Union of India just only to mislead the people by making false promises”.
“There is dire need to counter these anti people parties and bring a check to growing corruption and Goonda Raj established by NC-Congress coalition. We resolve to fight these forces and throw them out”, he said, adding “Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front is going to change the equation of State politics”.
