JAMMU, Mar 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) delegation today called on Shiv Anant Tayal, Managing Director JPDCL led by Sachin Tickoo, general secretary along with MP Singh, Provincial secretary , Rajeshwar Jamwal and others here in Jammu and deliberated in detail the progress of the process of promotions and filling up of the vacancies at various levels from Assistant Engineer to Chief Engineer as due to vacant positions the revenue collection in the corporation is suffering as Divisional/ Sub Divisional heads are not in place.
The participants while echoing the sentiments and aspirations of the members of the Graduate Engineering fraternity expressed strong resentment over the non- filling up of the clear cut vacancies available at various levels of the Power Development Department. A large number of engineers have retired and many more are retiring and are eligible for placement to higher levels with all formalities having been completed, but despite that the formal orders for their promotions are not being issued which has led to multiple charge system and severely affected the administrative efficiency.
This approach of the administration has created deep sense of dissatisfaction and resentment among the cadres and hurts the morale of the employees in general. It is pertinent to mention that there are clear seven vacancies of Chief Engineers, ten posts of Superintending Engineers, 30 posts of Executive Engineers, 50 posts of Assistant Executive Engineers and hundreds of vacancies of Assistant Engineers are available and same should be expedited in the overall interest of the administration.
The members also highlighted that the new receiving stations and LT/HT lines have been added since last few years and there is acute shortage of manpower to even man them. Despite constitution of committee for finalizing AMC modalities vide MD office order no 38-MD/JPDCL/ of 2021 dated 17/04/2021, the said committee never met in past seven months and accordingly no movement in this direction has taken place despite our repeated requests. The action taken report in this regard may kindly be sought at an earliest. Then field executive staff that has spent years together in Maintenance Divisions should be shuffled.
JKEEGA strongly appealed the Managing Director to fulfill the aspirations and genuine demands of the employees and infuse a renewed zeal among the cadres.
