JAMMU, Aug 2: Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates’ Association (JKEEGA) has took strong exception to the scrapping of PDD Employees Welfare Fund Rules, 2008 without notifying the new rules ever since the PDD has been unbundled into corporations in Oct 2019.
In an emergency meeting of JKEEGA held here at Jammu, the members under the chairmanship of Sachin Tickoo (president JKEEGA) and Pirzada Hidayatullah (general secretary) objected to the scrapping of the PDD Employees Welfare Fund Rules, 2008. “Despite the fact that employees of PDD on deputation to the unbundled corporations are regularly contributing to the self contributory welfare fund, the claims of the next of the kin of deceased employees are pending since last 4 years,” they added.
The members said that during the meeting held in August 2021, draft rules of the Welfare fund were brought to the notice of the representatives of various unions. They said JKEEGA had sought that the Existing Central Welfare Committee, District Welfare Committees and Provincial Welfare Committees need to arrive with a complete detailed balance sheet of the funds currently accumulated and lying with the various bank accounts being held at all three levels and a consolidated fund position and its transfer to the central account has to be ensured.
“The liability of Rs 7.29 crores which is yet to be disbursed to the verified/duly sanctioned cases up to 2019 only due to the paucity of contribution funds, needs to be addressed. It fails to understand that without settling the claims of the deceased employees, the rules of disbursement have been scrapped and all such families have been left in lurch,” the members stated.
They urged the Government to notify the Welfare Fund Rules urgently in order to address the grievances of the families of deceased employees who have been running from pillar to post for getting their own contribution.
“Further, the Welfare Fund needs to have a Government support as the employees and engineers burn the midnight oil, use their sweat & blood to give uninterrupted power supply,” the JKEEGA members added.
