JKGB organizes awareness program on PM’s social security schemes

KATHUA, Aug 17: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) under the chairmanship of RK Chhibber in collaboration with NABARD organized an awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri’s Social Security Schemes and SHG under NRLM at Hatli.
District Development Manager (NABARD), Madan Lal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke at length about various bank schemes i.e., Pradhan Mantri’s Social Security Schemes, Self Help Groups (SHG’s), Joint Liability Groups (JLG’s) and NRLM.
He highlighted that joint liability groups and SHG under NRLM are an effective credit delivery methodology for banks to reach clients like small farmers, marginal farmers, tenant farmers and also micro entrepreneurs and therefore an important tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion. He also distributed credit worth Rs 41 Lakh to 21 beneficiaries in the shape of KCC, GCC, Housing Loan, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, RD Sharma, Area Manager, Kathua & Samba Grameen Bank, urged the people to utilize the opportunity and avail benefits of newly launched schemes named (PMJJBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana. He advised the people to avail these benefits through nearest Grameen Bank Branch.
Lead District Manager, Shiv Kumar, spoke about various schemes of the Bank/NABARD. He further informed the gathering that these schemes have been designed to provide security cover to the poor population particularly those working in the unorganized sectors.
