SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Mountain Biking Association in collaboration with Swim N Survival Society (SnSS)-Kashmir organized the first of its kind Triathlon as part of its weekend programme, here today.
Fayaz Ahmad Shah (Senior Manager Terminal Benefits, J&K Bank CHQ) flagged off the event at 6:25 am at Water Sports Centre at Nigeen, which saw participation of around 30 players affiliated with many adventure Sports Associations.
The triathlon started with 700 meters of swimming at Nigeen Lake, followed by 25 km of cycling from Nigeen Club around Dal Lake via foreshore road to Nigeen Club and 10km running from Nigeen Club to Shalimar Bridge and return.
While hailing the players for their active involvement in the sports activities, Secretary Swim N Survival Society – Kashmir Yasir Makhdoomi said the society is committed to providing the right platform to the youth in swimming.
“This event was just the beginning and we will organize more such events at large scale in which the athletes will have to cover more distance. This will give them the right platform to prepare for other events,” said president JKMBA Riyaz Wani.
