JAMMU, Oct 10: Consequent upon the illogical, unwanted, unjustified and immature demand of appointing an IAS Officer as Director Health Services (DHS) by some self interested persons, Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) led by Dharminder Singh Bhargav today passed a resolution that there cannot be any other suitable alternative other than a doctor for the post of DHS.
An urgent meeting of working Committee of JKMEF was called under the chairmanship of Dharminder Singh Bhargav, president of the Federation and attended by Ravinder Singh (Rozy), Ajeet Kumarn, Baryam Singh, Anil Kesar, Amarjeet Singh, Mangal Das, Kulwant Singh, Rakesh Khajuria, Madan Lal and others.
The working committee unanimously condemned the unjustified, illogical and immature statement of some so called self styled leaders and passed resolution that there cannot be an any other suitable alternative other than a doctor for the post of DHS because a doctor reaches the post of Director by passing through various posts like MO, BMO, CMO, Deputy Director, etc and must posses Master Degree in Hospital Administration and is suitable qualified to hold this post and delivered the best.
“Appointing an IAS as DHS will deprive the doctors of promotion to this administrative post and curtail the promotional prospects. Since a doctor reaches the post of DHS after holding various administrative posts of Health Department and are very much aware of working and needs of the department, no unfamiliar outsider can deliver better than them (doctors). Therefore, a post of DHS must be retained for doctors through promotions from the feeding cadre as it is”, the resolution stated.
Stating that there is always chance of clash between two federations with same name and style ‘JKMEF’, as these having entirely divergent and opposite views, the committee members further passed resolution demanding the higher authorities of the department to either ban activities of both the constituents or constitute a high level departmental committee for conduct of election of the Federation through ballot.
The committee members also said that the Government room occupied by one group of JKMEF in the premises of DHS Jammu may be sealed/locked forth with in the interest of law and order and to avoid chance of clash between two rival groups.
