JAMMU, Aug 25: The J&K Masters Games Association (JKMGA) organized a vibrant athletic meet at the University of Jammu today, under the expert guidance of Ranjit Singh Chib, a former SSP and international player. This inaugural event brought together athletes from a variety of sports disciplines, including Handball, Basketball, Football, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Powerlifting, Cricket, Yoga, Hockey, And Calisthenics. Competitors, ranging from 35 to 70 years old, vied for gold, silver, and bronze medals in their respective categories.
The meet was notable for its inclusivity, attracting participants from various professional backgrounds-doctors, advocates, homemakers, businesspeople, and individuals with disabilities. This diverse participation underscored the spirit of the event, which celebrated the essence of sportsmanship and active living.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG J&K Police, was the chief guest, who commended the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication. He distributed trophies to supporters of the event who played a crucial role behind the scenes. The event was hosted by Mamta Bajaj Anand and supported by key figures including Neete Kour Khalsa, Vinay Saraf, and Priyanka Gupta. Ranjit Chib praised the unique nature of the Masters Games, highlighting how it fosters a sense of community and allows families-such as mothers and daughters, siblings, and couples-to compete together. He encouraged participants to continue engaging in future events with the same passion.
