* e-tenders for procurement of Drugs, Medicines, Fluids floated

SRINAGAR, June 1: J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) today became fully functional by uploading and publishing of first ever Online e-tender for Drugs, Medicines and Fluids for the year 2015-16 amounting to Rs.150 crore approximately in presence of Minister for Health & Medical Education, ARI Trainings, Choudary Lal Singh in Corporate Office, Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government gave special impetus to make the J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited, a fully functional, autonomous and self sustained Organization with the mandate to Procure, warehousing and Distribution of Drugs, Medicines, Surgical, Sutures, Equipment, Machinery and other allied items by getting every batch of medicine tested through JKMSCL empanelled NABL accredited drugs testing and analytical Laboratories across the country.
The Minister while interacting with the media-persons said that the e-tendering process will be transparent and there will be no role of any officer of the Health and Medical Education department in the purchase of drugs and other equipments adding that Union Ministry of Health will provide every possible help in this regard.
The Minister said that the aim of establishing a self-sustained autonomous organization under the direct control of J&K Government is to provide quality medicine at reasonable price to the patients of the State. He said it was also aimed to procure only Standard Drugs by the said Corporation. The Corporation has been entrusted with the responsibility of Standardization of Essential Drugs of different categories for Health Institutions and also to ensure foolproof arrangements of testing, so that the quality of drugs supplied to the patients is of desired quality at reasonable rates, besides relieving the Service providers (HODs & Doctors) from additional burden of procurement and distribution process.
Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, M.K. Bandhari, Director General ISM, Dr. Kabir, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dr. Yashpaul Sharma, Director AIDS Control Society, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev Sharma and Officers of JKMSCL and Medical Education Department were present on the occasion.
