UDHAMPUR, Aug 21: Strongly condemning the State Government for its decision to close down 1300 primary and middle schools in Jammu region in the name of rationalization, Harshdev Singh, JKNPP chairman and former Minister today lambasted the Jammu based MLAs for keeping mum on the subject and silently acquiescing in the highly profane act.
Describing the Government move on closure of schools as highly retrograde, he said that it would adversely affect the educational activity especially in the remote and far flung areas of the State where thousands and thousands of school going children will be forced to discontinue their studies. He was addressing a one day workshop of JKNPP activists at Majalta.
Lambasting the BJP for adopting the policy of repression and coercion after its shameful Jiggery-Pokery over the AIIMS issue, he said that it was only indicative of the frustration and bafflement of the Saffron Party for having failed the people of Jammu region.
Strongly condemning the alliance of the so called north pole and south pole, he said that BJP-PDP cocktail has left an acidulous and pungent taste in the mouths of Jammu people.
Highlighting the local issues of Majalta, Harshdev Singh called for early macadamization of the roads approved during his tenure under PMGSY, early repairs of the damaged transformers, provision of teachers in various staff deficient schools, opening of the roads blocked due to landslides and early establishment of degree college in Majalta as per the directions of High Court given in the writ petition filed by the Panthers Party.
Raghubir Singh, Dharam Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Romesh Gupta, Purshotam Singh, Karnail Singh and many others spoke on the occasion.
