JAMMU, July 21: Flabbergasted by the BJP’s horrendous breach of written commitment made last month to the public on the announcement of establishing AIIMS in Jammu, National Panthers Party staged a one day sit-in protest demonstration.
The demonstration was spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and Former Education Minister and Yashpal Kundal, State President, Young Panthers along with hundreds of activists outside the Press Club here.
The apoplectic protestors expressing their shock and resentment over the Saffron party for making a treacherous mockery of the aspirations of the people of Jammu region raised slogans.
Describing the BJP for once again carrying on the legacy of playing foul with the people of Jammu, Harsh Dev sought an immediate resignation of both Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Minister for Social welfare, Forest and Ecology and Environment Bali Bhagat besides the public apology from them for playing with the esteem and honour of the people who had overwhelmingly voted them to power.
He recalled that anticipating a massive public agitation over the AIIMS impasse, a written assurance was duly signed and given by both the BJP incumbents last month to the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) which specifically stated that the premier institute would be officially announced for the Jammu region by 20th of this month only turned as a hollow commitment thus leaving the people bewildered and shocked.
He maintained that Panthers Party shall oppose, expose and depose the BJP for belying the hopes and aspirations of the people of Jammu region besides cowardly crumbling before the PDP to play as a stooge in the hands of its coalition partner.
Yashpal Kundal said that not only Dr Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat but all 25 mute legislators of BJP must resign for having betrayed the people of Jammu region and vowed that Panthers Party shall not relent unless the premier health institute is established in the region.
